Act and Comittee John Coach

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Counsell being Informed that John Coach sone to William Coach weaver who wes seized as a deserter by Leivetennent Ker and Comitted prisoner to the tolbooth of Mussleburgh Is now transported to the tolbooth of the Canongate They hereby Recomend to the Maister of Burghlie and Sir Thomas Burnet of Leyes to Call for the said John Coach and also for the said Leivetennent Ker and to take tryall anent the grounds and methods of the said John his Imprisonement And to Report to the Counsell at there next dyet of Meeting And in the mean tyme discharges the Magistrats of Edinburgh Bailzies of the Canongate or keeper of the tolbooth thereof To delyver the said John Coach to the said Leivetennent Ker or to suffer him to come furth of the said tolbooth without the Counsells speciall warrand for that effect2 Therefter a warrand wes given be the Comittee for transporting the said John Coatch from Canongate to Edinburgh tolbooth which is Lyeing here in this sederunt

The lords of their majesties’ privy council being informed that John Coach, son to William Coach, weaver, who was seized as a deserter by Lieutenant Kerr and committed prisoner to the tolbooth of Musselburgh is now transported to the tolbooth of the Canongate they hereby recommend to [Robert Balfour] the master of Burleigh and Sir Thomas Burnet of Leys to call for the said John Coach and also for the said Lieutenant Kerr and to take trial concerning the grounds and methods of the said John his imprisonment, and to report to the council at their next diet of meeting. And in the meantime discharge the magistrates of Edinburgh, bailies of the Canongate, or keeper of the tolbooth thereof to deliver the said John Coach to the said Lieutenant Kerr, or to suffer him to come forth of the said tolbooth without the council’s special warrant for that effect. Thereafter a warrant was given by the committee for transporting the said John Coach from Canongate to Edinburgh tolbooth which is lying here in this sederunt.
