Act Mr Kenneth Mckenzie for stipend

Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of there majestyes privie Councill be Mr Kenneth McKenzie minister of Fearne Shewing That the petitioner wes Lawfullie admitted minister at Fearne in the Dyocie of Ross And hes Continowed therein severall years Endeavouring to performe his duety with the good Lykeing of his pariochiners untill of late The Laird of Balnagoune being Shirreff of Ross and some ministers out of other shyres did by violence trouble the petitioner and affrigat his pariochiners And that the petitioner hath given obedience to there majestyes Comands and ouned there authority by praying for there majestyes As the declaration produced with the the2 said petitione hes testifyed And that he hes served the Cure of the said kirk since his entrie till the begining of Junij instant that he came to Edinburgh humbly to petitione redress for the forsaid violence from there Lordships and protection under the government of there sacred majestyes And therefor Craveing that the saids Lords would be pleased to warrand the petitioner in his Lawfull possession of office and benefice in the said paroch And to ordaine the heretors and others Lyable to make payment to the petitioner of the stipend for the saids year Jaj vjc and nyntie one for which he hes served the Cure As the said petitione bears The Saids Lords of there majestyes privie Councill haveing Considered this petition this petitione3 Given in to them be the above Mr Kenneth Mckenzie They hereby allow to the petitioner the stipend of the above kirk of Fearne for the cropt and year of God Jaj vjc nyntie one And ordaines him to be readiely ansuered obeyed and payed thereof be the heretors fewers wodsetters Lyfrenters titulars taksmen of teynds tennents possessors and others Lyable in payment of the same And ordaines Letters of horning under the signet of Councill to be direct at the petitioners instance againest them for that effect upon production of a decreet of Locality And in case there be none ordaines these Lyable to make payment to the petitioner of there respective proportiones of the said years stipend according as they shall be decerned be the Judge ordinary In respect the petitioner hes given in to the Clerks of Councill ane obleidgement subscryved be him Binding himself That for the future He Shall pray for there majestyes King William and Queen Mary as King and Queen of this Realme

Concerning the petition given in to the lords of their majesties’ privy council by Mr Kenneth McKenzie, minister of Fearn, shewing that the petitioner was lawfully admitted as minister at Fearn in the diocese of Ross, and has continued therein several years, endeavouring to perform his duty with the good liking of his parishioners until of late the laird of Balnagown being sheriff of Ross and some ministers out of other shires did by violence trouble the petitioner and intimidated his parishioners, and that the petitioner has given obedience to their majesties’ commands and owned their authority by praying for their majesties, as the declaration produced with the said petition has testified, and that he has served the cure of the said kirk since his entry till the beginning of June instant that he came to Edinburgh humbly to petition redress for the foresaid violence from their lordships and protection under the government of their sacred majesties, and therefore craving that the said lords would be pleased to warrant the petitioner in his lawful possession of office and benefice in the said parish, and to ordain the heritors and others liable to make payment to the petitioner of the stipend for the said year 1691 for which he has served the cure, as the said petition bears. The said lords of their majesties privy council, having considered this petition given in to them by the above Mr Kenneth McKenzie, they hereby allow to the petitioner the stipend of the above kirk of Fearn for the crop and year of 1691 and they ordain him to be readily answered, obeyed and paid thereof by the heritors, feuars, wadsetters, liferenters, titulars, taksmen of teinds, tenants, possessors and others liable in payment of the same, and they ordain letters of horning under the signet of council to be directed at the petitioner’s instance against them for that effect upon production of a decreet of locality and in case there is none, they ordain those liable to make payment to the petitioner of their respective proportions of the said year’s stipend as they shall be discerned by the judge ordinary, in respect the petitioner has given in to the clerks of council an obligation subscribed by him, binding himself that for the future he shall pray for their majesties King William and Queen Mary as king and queen of this realm.
