Act

Act heritors of Glenluce for Stipend

Concerning the petition given in to the lords of their majesties’ privy council by the heritors of Old and New Glenluce showing that upon a former petition given in to the said lords by the petitioners craving vacant stipends of the said two parishes for repairing of the ruinous manses of these two kirks of Old and New Glenluce and the bridges upon the water of Luce dividing these two parishes, their lordships by their interlocutor of the tenth day of November 1691 were pleased to allow the petitioners the stipend of the said two kirks for the last half of the year 1690 and the first half of the year 1691, and seeing that the said stipends already given will not by very far be sufficient for defraying the charges of repair of the said manse and bridge, and that the stipend for the last half of the year 1690 of the same kirks is yet vacant and therefore craving to the effect underwritten as the said petition bears. The said lords of their majesties’ privy council having considered this petition given in to them by the heritors of Old and New Glenluce, they allow the petitioners the stipend of both the said kirks of Old and New Glenluce for the last half of the crop and year 1691 to be applied for repairing the manses of both the said kirks and bridges upon the water of Luce dividing the said two parishes, and nominate and appoint Mr Andrew Ross, clerk to the regality of Glenluce, to be factor for uplifting of the said stipends, and ordain him to be readily answered, obeyed, and paid thereof by the heritors, liferenters, titulars, tackmen of teinds, tenants, possessors, and others liable in payment of the same. And ordain letters of horning to be directed at his instance against them for that effect upon production of a decreet of locality. And in case there be none, ordain those liable to make payment of the respective proportions according as the same shall be discerned by the judge ordinary, in respect the said factor has found sufficient caution acted in the books of privy council that he shall employ the said half year’s stipends for repair of the manses of the said kirks of Old and New Glenluce and the bridge upon the water of Luce dividing the said parishes.
