Kings Letter for removeing the Lord Montgomery from the Councill and receiving Mr Frances Montgomery in his place

A Letter from the Kings Majesty to the Councill read and ordered to be recorded whereof the tenor followes
Sic suprascribitur Uilliam R
Right trustie and Right well beloved Cousigne and Councellour Right trustie and Intirely beloved Cousines and Councellours Right trustie and right well beloved and as in the preceeding Letter of this sederunt wee greet yow well Whereas wee did nominate the Lord Montgomery one of our privie Councellors in the Last Commissione And he haveing nether come to take his place and the oathes nor attended dureing the danger of ane Invasione threattened from France in our absence Therefore wee doe requyre yow to signify to the Lord Montgomerie That he is no more a member of our privie Councill And it is our pleasure That in his place yow doe receave Mr Frances Montgomery of Giffan to be one of our privie Councillours of that our ancient Kingdome He Giveing his oath de fideli and takeing the alleadgeance and assureance in comon forme For doeing whereoff this our Letter (to be recorded in your books) shall be your warrand and so we bidd yow heartily farewell Given at Jonnep the place of our present Encampment the Fourteent day of Jullij and of our reigne the fourth year Jaj vjc nyntie tuo years By his majesties Comand sic subscribitur John Dalrymple
Upon Reading of this Letter The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill Recomended to the Lord high Chancellour to wreitt to the said Mr Frances Montgomery Signifyeing That his Majesty hes Nominate him to be one of there Majestyes privie Councellours

King’s Letter for removing Lord Montgomerie from the Council and receiving Mr Francis Montgomerie in his place

A Letter from the King’s majesty to the council read and ordered to be recorded whereof the tenor follows
Signed above William Rex,
Right trusty and right well beloved cousin and councillor, right trusty and entirely beloved cousins and councillors, right trusty and right well beloved and as in the preceding letter of this sederunt, we greet you well, whereas we did nominate the Lord Montgomery one of our privy councillors in the last Commission and he having neither come to take his place and the oaths nor attended during the danger of an invasion threatened from France in our absence, therefore we do require you to signify to [Alexander] Lord Montgomerie that he is no more a member of our privy council, and it is our pleasure that in his place you do receive Mr Francis Montgomerie of Giffen to be one of our privy councillors of that our ancient kingdom he giving his oath de fideli and taking the allegiance and assurance in common form for doing whereof this our Letter (to be recorded in your books) shall be your warrant and so we bid you heartily farewell. Given at Jemeppe, the place of our present encampment, the fourteenth day of July and of our reign the fourth year 1692. By his majesty’s command signed John Dalrymple.
Upon Reading of this letter the lords of their majesties’ privy council recommended to the Lord High Chancellor to write to the said Mr Frances Montgomerie signifying that his majesty has nominated him to be one of their majesties’ privy councillors.
