Recomendatione for The Magistrats of the Severall burghs anent payment of seamen

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Counsell doe hereby Recomend to the Lords Commissioners of there Majestyes theasurie to cause present payment2 be made to the Magistrats of the severall burghes following who have engadged seamen for there majestyes service in the termes of the proclamatione of Counsell Emitted for Levyeing of seamen off the soume of Fourtie shillings sterling for each seaman whom they have engadged and who have Listed themselves in there Majestyes service in the termes of the said proclamationes according as the Number of these seamen are transmitted to the Clerks of Counsell the Lists sent in to them viz: To the Magistrats of Kinghorne for sex seamean, To the Magistrats of Dunbar for that toune, Coldinghame, Northfield, Ress and Eymouth for that toun tuo seamen, to the Magistrats of Queensferrie for that toun tuo seamen and for Cramond one seaman, To the Magistrats of Craill for that toun three seamen, To the magistrats of Kirkaldie threttie nyne seamen, To the Magistrats of Burntisland for that toun and the toun of Aberdour six seamen To the Magistrats of Innerkeithing for that toun and Northqueensferrie fyve seamen To the Magistrats of Pittenweeme for that toun ten seamen and for Enster Easter three seamen and for Gaird bridge one seaman To the Magistrats of Aberdein for Eight seamen And the saids Lords ordaines the Magistrats of the severall burghes forsaids to take sufficient surety from each seaman to whom they shall advance the said Fourty shillings sterling that he shall be in readienes at Leith to Imbarq for there Majestyes service How soon and whensoever he shall be Called for And Declares that the saids Magistrats to whom the said Levie money is to be advanced are hereby obleidged to refound to the saids Lords Commissioners of theasurie the saids soume of Fourtie shillings sterling for each seaman reported be them to have taken on for there Majestyes service And for whom they shall receave the lyke soume In case the said seamen shall not be in readiones at Leith and Imbarq for there Majestyes service as said is Reserveing to the Magistrats there releiff againest the said seamen and there sureties to be taken be the magistrates as said is

Recommendation for the Magistrates of several burghs concerning payment of seamen

The lords of their majesties’ privy council hereby recommend to the lords commissioners of their majesties’ treasury to cause present payment be made to the magistrates of the various burghs following who have engaged seamen for their majesties’ service in the terms of the proclamation of council emitted for levying of seamen, of the sum of forty shillings sterling for each seaman whom they have engaged and who have listed themselves in their majesties’ service in the terms of the said proclamations according as the number of these seamen are transmitted to the clerks of council the lists sent in to them viz: to the magistrates of Kinghorn for six seamen; to the magistrates of Dunbar for that town, Coldingham, Northfield, Ress and Eyemouth for that town two seamen; to the magistrates of South Queensferry for that town two seamen and for Cramond one seaman; to the magistrates of Crail for that town three seamen; to the magistrates of Kirkcaldy thirty nine seamen; to the magistrates of Burntisland for that town and the town of Aberdour six seamen; to the magistrates of Inverkeithing for that town and North Queensferry five seamen; to the magistrates of Pittenweem for that town ten seamen; and for Anstruther Easter three seamen; and for Guardbridge one seaman; to the magistrates of Aberdeen for eight seamen. And the said lords ordain the magistrates of the various burghs foresaid to take sufficient surety from each seaman to whom they shall advance the said forty shillings sterling that he shall be in readiness at Leith to embark for their majesties’ service as soon and whenever he shall be called for, and declare that the said magistrates to whom the said levy money is to be advanced are hereby obliged to refund to the said lords commissioners of treasury the said sum of forty shillings sterling for each seaman reported by them to have taken on for their majesties’ service, and for whom they shall receive the like sum in case the said seamen shall not be in readiness at Leith and embark for their majesties’ service as said is; reserving to the magistrates their relief against the said seamen and their sureties to be taken by the magistrates as stated.
