Reference to Sir Thomas Livingstoun anent the Earl of Sieforths escape

The Lords of there Majesties privie Councill doe hereby recomend to Sir Thomas Livingstoun Comander in cheiff of there majestyes forces within this Kingdome to cause Exactly view and Consider the Lodging of the Earle of Sieforth and the haill windowes and passadges to and from the same And to take strict tryall of the behaviour of the officers and souldiers Concerned and Imployed in the Guairding of the said house and Custodie of the said Earle And to doe everything else that he shall think fitt in this effair If by any means it may be found out how the Earle did make his escape And to report to the Councill

Reference to Sir Thomas Livingston concerning the earl of Seaforth’s escape

The lords of their majesties’ privy council hereby recommend to Sir Thomas Livingston, commander in chief of their majesties’ forces within this kingdom to have the lodging of [Kenneth MacKenzie], earl of Seaforth exactly viewed and considered and all the windows and passages to and from the same, and to take strict trial of the behaviour of the officers and soldiers concerned and employed in the guarding of the said house and custody of the said earl and to do everything else that he shall think fit in this affair if by any means it may be found out how the earl made his escape, and to report to the council.
