Petition Ninian Mercer, prisoner in Edinburgh tolbooth upon suspicion of disaffection to the government and spreading news-letters full of false tidings, craving liberty upon bail, and laid aside until the petitioner condescend upon the name and designation of the person who sends him the news-letters, seeing he has acknowledged to the solicitor that the said person did lodge a considerable time at his house.
