Recomendatione to the Lord Chancellour to signe a pass to Charles Maitland

The Lords of there Majesties privie Councill being Informed by the Lord High Chancellour That Charles Maitland who wes in the Bass with the rebells there is desyrous to repair to Flanders and present himself to the Maister of Stair secretarie of state for this Kingdome If he could have a pass from the government for his safe conduct They hereby recomend to the Lord high Chancellour to signe a pass to the said Charles for his travelling from this to Flanders And allowes him to travill accordingly David Maitland of Soultray brother to the said Charles first giveing bond and becomeing acted in the books of privie Councill That the said Charles shall repair to Flanders with the first occasione And shall present himself to the said Maister of Stair there or in what place else he shall happen to be betuixt and the thretteint day of september next And that he shall report a Certificate from the said secretarie of his so doeing betuixt and the thretteint day of october therefter to the said Lord high Chancellour under the penalty of Tuelve hundreth pounds scotts In case the said Charles shall transgress in any pairt of the premises.

Recommendation to the lord chancellor to sign a pass to Charles Maitland

The lords of their majesties’ privy council being informed by the lord high chancellor that Charles Maitland, who was in the Bass with the rebels there, is desirous to repair to Flanders and present himself to [John Dalrymple] the master of Stair, secretary of state for this kingdom, if he could have a pass from the government for his safe conduct. They hereby recommend to the lord high chancellor to sign a pass to the said Charles for his travelling from this to Flanders, and allows him to travel accordingly, David Maitland of Soultray, brother to the said Charles, first giving bond and becoming acted in the books of privy council that the said Charles shall repair to Flanders with the first occasion, and shall present himself to the said master of Stair there, or in what place else he shall happen to be, between [now] and 13 September next, and that he shall report a certificate from the said secretary of his so doing between [now] and 13 October thereafter to the said lord high chancellor under the penalty of twelve hundred pounds Scots in case the said Charles shall transgress in any part of the premises.
