Earl of Sieforth Closs prisoner

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill being Informed that the Earle of Sieforth is seized at the house off Pencaitland and brought to Edinburgh They hereby recomend to and requyre the Earle of Leven Governour of the Castle of Edinburgh to receave the said Earle of Sieforth prisoner into the said castle of Edinburgh And to keep him closs and suffer none to have access to him or converse with him untill he be examined by a Comittee of Councill appointed for examining his Lordship And that the Comittee have reported to the Councill And the said Earle of Leven is to detaine the said Earle of Sieforth prisoner untill further order of Councill.

The earl of Seaforth to be a close prisoner

The lords of their majesties’ privy council being informed that [Kenneth MacKenzie], earl of Seaforth was seized at the house of Pencaitland and brought to Edinburgh, they hereby recommend to and require the earl of Leven, governor of the Castle of Edinburgh to receive the said earl of Seaforth as a prisoner into the said Castle of Edinburgh and to keep him close and suffer none to have access to him or converse with him until he is examined by a committee of council appointed for examining his lordship and the committee have reported to the council, and the said earl of Leven is to detain the said earl of Seaforth as a prisoner until further order of council.
