Order to Collonell Cunningham anent drawing recruits out of the forces
The Lords of there Majesties privie Councill Haveing considered a Letter direct from his majestie under his Royall hand to there Lordships bearing dait at his Camp at Grammen near Deynse the Eight day of September last with a letter direct from the Maister of Stair Secretarie of State to Colonell Cunninghame Bearing dait at London the seventeint day of november Instant both anent the recruitts wanting to there Majeties scotts troops in Flanders to be taken out of the scotts forces presently within this Kingdome with the report of a Comittee of there oune number to whom it wes remitted to meet with the said Collonell Cuninghame and Concert with him all things necessarie in this effair They hereby In obedience to there Majesties Comands in his said Letter contained and in prosecutione thereof and of the said Letter from the Secretarie of State Doe appoint and authorize Collonell Richard Cuninghame to see the recruitts fairly drawen And to draw the number of Tuentie Four men out of each of the Companies in Collonell Hills regiment And the Lyke number out of each of the Independent Companyes And the number of Eighteen men out of each of the Companyes And the number of Eighteen men out of each of the Companyes in Collonell Buchans regiment And the Lyke number out of the Scotts for each Company of Collonell Lesslies regiment And the Maner of drawing to be By putting the names of each wholl Company in Collonell Hills regiment and the names of each wholl Independent Company And the names of each Company in Collonell Buchans regiment And the names of the scotts for each Company in Collonell Leslies regiment Into hatts And so drawing out Tuenty four or Eighteen names effeiring to the respective Companyes as is above appoynted And ordaines the severall Collonells or Comanders of Companyes To allow the souldiers who shall be so drawen out there wholl cloathes which they now wear or other sufficient warme cloathes at the sight of the said Collonel Cunninghame And ordaines the saids Colonells and Commanders of Companyes to send without armes the severall detachments which shall be drawen out of them with such sufficient number of officers and souldiers as they at signt of the said Collonell Cuninghame shall think fitt to Conduct them And appoints these officers and souldiers to Conduct the saids detachments to the port and road of Leith or any other port or road within the rive of Forth at such tyme or tymes as shall be appointed be the said Colonell Cuninghame after he hes Concerted the same with the officers who are to receave them And appoynts them to delyver the saids detatchments or recruitts at the saids ports or harbour to the officers who are sent over for them And ordaines these officers to pay seven dollars for each of the men they receave to the Captains of the Companies out of which they are drawen And ordaines these Captains to Compleat there Companyes within tuo moneths after the delyverie of these men at the ports or harbors forsaids And declares that the officers who Conducts the saids detatchments or recruits Shall be accomptable to delyver the haill number and Individuall persones which they shall receave to the officers who are sent over for them And ordains all shirreffs of shyres stewartries Bailzies of Bailzieries magistrats of burghes Royall and other ministers of the Law whatsomever within this Kingdome to be aiding and assisting to the saids officers In Conducting the saids recruitts and furnishing them quarters and other necessaries at reasonable rates upon payment of readie money And appoints the said Colonell Cuninghame to make exact rolls of the souldiers of each Company who shall be drawn out by Loat as said is That the Individuall men may be delyvered at the places appointed And the saids Lords doe hereby appoint the said Collonell Ritchard Cuninghame To Intimat this act to the Colonells Captaines and other officers of the regiments and Independent Companies within this Kingdome that the same may receave punctuall obedience And appoints the said Colonell Cuninghame to call the officers who are come from Flanders And know from them how the recruitts to be taken out of the regiments and Independent Companyes are to be divyded and proportioned amongst the officers And how soon the Recruitts are to be in readines for shipping And recalls the former order or act of Councill of the date the seventeenth day of november instant Given to Sir James Leslie in this effair and declares the samen null.
