Recomendation to the Sollicitor to speak with the Magistrats of Edinburgh anent beggars

The Lords of there majesties privie Councill doe hereby recomend to Sir William Lockhart there majesties sollicitor to speak with the magistrats of Edinburgh and Intimat to them in the Councills name That they appoint the magistrats to take effectuall course for freeing the toun and suburbs of Edinburgh from beggars as appointed by the Late proclamatione And that the Councill expects a satisfyeing accompt from the magistrats at there first meeting in November next of there diligence in this matter.

The lords of their majesties’ privy council do hereby recommend to Sir William Lockhart, their majesties’ solicitor, to speak with the magistrates of Edinburgh and intimate to them in the council’s name that they appoint the magistrates to take effectuall course for freeing the town and suburbs of Edinburgh from beggars as appointed by the late proclamation, and that the council expects a satisfying accompt from the magistrates at their first meeting in November next of their diligence in this matter.
