Order anent the Castle of Edinburgh

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill Considering how necessarie it is in the present Juncture off effairs that the Securitie of the Castle of Edinburgh be Looked unto with exact diligence Doe therefore requyre and Comand the Leivetennent Governour of the said Castle now in absence of the Earle of Leven Constable and Governour thereof To remove out of the said Castle all and every persone men and women not belonging to the said Garisone And all other persones who at present make there abode there Except the servants for the necessarie use of the Garisone and prisoners there for the tyme And that all the officers belonging to the garisone be requyred presently to repair to there propper posts and remaine thereat And after remove all of the persones alswell men as women not belonging to the garisone and who are not prisoners That the gates be shutt and keeped Closs untill the arryveall of the said Earle of Leven, And no persone suffered to goe out thereof or have entrie thereunto without speciall warrand from the saids Lords Except for the necessarie use of the garisone

Order concerning the Castle of Edinburgh

The lords of their majesties’ privy council considering how necessary it is in the present juncture of affairs that the security of the Castle of Edinburgh be Looked unto with exact diligence, do therefore require and command the lieutenant governor of the said castle now in absence of the earl of Leven, constable and governor thereof, to remove out of the said castle all and every person, men and women not belonging to the said garrison, and all other persons who at present make their abode there except the servants for the necessary use of the garrison and prisoners there for the time, and that all the officers belonging to the garrison be required presently to repair to their proper posts and remain thereat and after removal of the persons as well men as women not belonging to the garrison, and who are not prisoners, that the gates be shut and kept closed until the arrival of the said Earl of Leven, and no person suffered to go out thereof or have entry thereunto without special warrant from the said lords except for the necessary use of the garrison.
