Recomendation to Sir Thomas Livingstoun to writ north anent the house of Island Donald

The Earle of Leven and the Lord Ruthven to whom it was Recomended be the Lords of privie Counsell to speak with the Earle of Sieforth and to deall with his Lordships That he might Cause delyver up for ther majestyes use the house of Island Donald Belonging to him and which is said to be presently in the possession of his uncle and some of his followers Haveing Reported that they havine Spoke with the said Earle of Sieforth in this matter and that the Earles ansuer wes, If that house be abandoned by Canon and Buchan who Lately possessed the same, nether the Earles Uncle nor any other persone of his clane or dependence shall be suffered to keep out the said house But the same shall be at there Majestyes service The Lords of there majesties privie Counsell doe hereby Recomend to Sir Thomas Livingstoun Commander in cheiff of there majestyes forces within this Kingdome to wreitt to North and get a certain accompt whether the said house of Island Donald be abandoned by the said Cannon and Buchan and in whose possession the said house now is, and to acquant the Counsell with what returne he receaves

Recommendation to Sir Thomas Livingston to write north concerning the house of Eilean Donan

The earl of Leven and the Lord Ruthven, to whom it was recommended by the lords of privy council to speak with the earl of Seaforth and to deal with his lordship that he might cause deliver up for their majesties use the house of Eilean Donan belonging to him and which is said to be presently in the possession of his uncle and some of his followers, having reported that they having spoken with the said earl of Seaforth in this matter and that the earl’s answer was, ff that house be abandoned by [Alexander] Cannon and [John] Buchan who lately possessed the same, neither the earl’s uncle nor any other person of his clan or dependence shall be suffered to keep out the said house, but the same shall be at their majesties service. The lords of their majesties’ privy council doe hereby recommend to Sir Thomas Livingston, commander-in-chief of their majesties forces within this kingdom, to write to north and get a certain account whether the said house of Eilean Donan be abandoned by the said Cannon and Buchan and in whose possession the said house now is, and to acquaint the council with what return he receives.
