Recomendation To the earle of Leven and Sir Thomas Livingstoun to trye If any of the seamen hes taken as land souldiers

The Lords of there Majesties privie Counsell being Informed that some seamen are Intercepted by or have taken on as souldiers with the officers presently Levyeing Recruits for ther Majeties service in Flanders They hereby Recomend to Sir Thomas Livingstoun Comander in cheiff of there Majesties forces within this Kingdome and in his absence to the Earle of Leven to take take tryall and cause make search If there be any seamen Intercepted or taken on as said is And to cause stopt them from goeing aboord as Land Souldiers That they may be made use of as seamen there Majestyes service in the fleet Royall

Recommendation to the earl of Leven and Sir Thomas Livingston to try if any of the seamen have [been] taken as land soldiers

The lords of their majesties’ privy council being informed that some seamen are intercepted by or have taken on as soldiers with the officers presently levying recruits for their majesties’ service in Flanders, they hereby recommend to Sir Thomas Livingston, commander-in-chief of their majesties’ forces within this kingdom, and in his absence to the earl of Leven, to take trial and cause make search if there be any seamen intercepted or taken on as said is, and to cause stop them from going abroad as land soldiers that they may be made use of as seamen [in] their majesties’ service in the fleet royal.
