Order for transporting John Tweedie from Canongate to Edinburgh tolbooth

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill doe hereby Give order and warrand to the magistrats of Edinburgh and Bailzies of the Canongate to transport under a sufficient guaird from the tolbooth of the Canongate to the tolbooth of Edinburgh John Tweedie Late2 trouper prisoner in the tolbooth of the Canongate for treasonable Expressiones againest there majesties and the government And ordaines the magistrats of Edinburgh to receave him prisoner into the tolbooth and putt him in the Irons untill the Councills further order And ordaines there majestyes sollicitor and his assistants Instantly to raise and follow furth upon the publict expenses ane Indytement againest the said John Tweedie And Recomends to Sir Thomas Livingstoun Comander in cheiff of there majestyes forces within this Kingdome to furnish what evidence he can againest the said John And Recomends to the Lord Beillhaven and the Laird of Steivenstoun and Sir Thomas Livingstoun to examine the said John, And the evidence which shall be furnished againest him in the afternoon and to report to morrow

Order for transporting John Tweedie from Canongate to Edinburgh tolbooth

The lords of their majesties’ privy council hereby give order and warrant to the magistrates of Edinburgh and bailies of the Canongate to transport under a sufficient guard from the tolbooth of the Canongate to the tolbooth of Edinburgh, John Tweedie, former trooper, prisoner in the tolbooth of the Canongate, for treasonable expressions against their majesties and the government, and they ordain the magistrates of Edinburgh to receive him as a prisoner into the tolbooth and put him in irons until the council’s further orders, and they ordain their majesties’ solicitor and his assistants instantly to raise and follow up upon public expenses, an indictment against the said John Tweedie, and they recommend to Sir Thomas Livingston, commander in chief of their majesties’ forces within this kingdom to furnish what evidence he can against the said John, recommending to the Lord Belhaven and the laird of Stevenson and Sir Thomas Livingston to examine the said John, and the evidence which shall be furnished against him in the afternoon and to report tomorrow.
