The Threttieth day of January appoynted to be observed

The Lord High Chancellor Having acquanted the Councell That the morrow the threttieth of January Being the day of the execution of King Charles the first of ever blessed memory showld be observed as was accustomed And if ther showld be sermone in the High Church of Edinburgh and that Church putt in ordor suitable to the occasione This after reasoning and went to a vote and was carryed in the affirmative By the Lord Chancellors casting vote And the Magistrats of Edinburgh being Called for Baillie Hew Blair attended the Councell The Lord Chancellor did acquant him with what the Councell had done And advertised the Baillie to Cause putt the High kirk in ordor as was usuall on the threttieth of January And that a Minister might be acquanted to preach ther that day2

The 30th of January appointed to be observed

The lord high chancellor [John Hay earl of Tweeddale] having aacquainted the council that tomorrow 30 January being the day of the execution of King Charles I of ever blessed memory, should be observed as was accustomed, and if there should be a sermon in the High Church of Edinburgh and that church put in order suitable to the occasion, this after reasoning and went to a vote and was carried in the affirmative by the lord chancellor’s casting vote, and the magistrates of Edinburgh being called for Baillie Hugh Blair attended the council, the lord chancellor did acquaint him with what the council had done, and advertised the baillie to cause put the High Kirk in order as was usual on 30 January, and that a minister might be acquainted to preach there that day.
