Comittee for examining tuo persons that surpryzed the above tolbooth

The Councill being Informed that the said tolbooth of the Canongate is surrendered Nominates the Lord Beilhaven and Sir Robert Sinclair of Steivinstoun to goe to the place and examine2 the prisoners and take tryall who are guilty and who are free of surpryzeing the prisone and to report to the Councill with power to them in the mean tyme to punish the delinquents by changeing there prisones or putting them in Irons

Committee for examining two persons that surprised the above tolbooth

The council being informed that the said tolbooth of the Canongate is surrendered, nominate Lord Belhaven and Sir Robert Sinclair of Stevenson to go to the place and examine the prisoners and find out who are guilty and who are free of surprising the prison and report to the council, with power to them in the meantime to punish the delinquents by changing their prisons or putting them in irons.
