Comittee for speaking with the Earle of Sieforth anent Island Donald

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill haveing receaved a letter from Captain Mckay Captain of ane Independendent Company Lyeing in the garisone at the Castle of Island donald Compleaning of the badd condition of that house And desyreing the same may be put in better case now when the seasone is good They Recomend to the Earle of Linlythgow and the Maister of Forbes to meet2 [and] speak with the Earl of Sieforth and speak with him anent the repairing of the forsaid house whereof his Lordship is propriator and to hear what Complaint his Lordship hes to make of any Illegall Impositiones or exactiones done be the Comanders of the said garisone upon his vassells and tennents and to report the same to the Councill

Committee for speaking with the Earl of Seaforth concerning Ellandonan

The lords of their majesties’ privy council having received a letter from Captain Mackay, captain of an independent company lying in the garrison at the Castle of Ellandonan complaining of the bad condition of that house and desiring the same may be put in better case now when the season is good, they recommend to the Earl of Linlithgow and the Master of Forbes to meet [and] speak with [Kenneth Mackenzie] earl of Seaforth and speak with him concerning the repairing of the forsaid house whereof his lordship is proprietor and to hear what complaint his lordship has to make of any illegal impositiones or exactions done be the commanders of the said garrison upon his vassals and tenants and to report the same to the council.
