Procedure

Comittee anent the Hearthmoney

The Lords of there Majesties privie Counsell having heard the report made to them be a Comittee of there oune Number who were appointed to Consider the petition Given in to there Lordships by Mr James Melvill of Cassengray Collector of the hearth money read in there presence They hereby Recomend to the said Comittee to Call for the said Mr James Melvill or his subcollectors and to Consider what bounds or places within this kingdome are particularly surveyed by the saids subcollectors for finding out the Number of hearts Contained therein And to report to the saids Lords of Counsell at there next dyett of meeting there procedor herein And what will be the fullest cowses to be followed for the effectuall Inbringing of the accompts of the hearth money from the sub collectors

Procedure

Committee concerning the hearth money

The lords of their majesties’ privy council having heard the report made to them by a committee of their own number who were appointed to consider the petition given in to their lordships by Mr James Melville of Cassengray, collector of the hearth money read in their presence, they hereby recommend to the said committee to call for the said Mr James Melville or his sub-collectors and to consider what bounds or places within this kingdom are particularly surveyed by the said sub-collectors for finding out the number of hearths contained therein and to report to the said lords of council at their next diet of meeting their procedure herein, and what will be the fullest courses to be followed for the effectual in bringing of the accounts of the hearth money from the sub-collectors.
