An address by the earl of Drumlanrig for himself and other heritors of the shire of Dumfries, that the understanding some cities and shires have offered to raise certain numbers out of the fencible men do therefore offer if the council find that the best for securing against an invasion or internal trouble offering to entertain a regiment of men for forty days or longer for the defence of the protestant religion and their majesties’ authority, and that their majesties name the officers, Signed by the earl of Drumlanrig in name and behalf of the heritors.
