Anent a Comision for the Highlands

A Comissione to be past under the great seall for secureing the peace of the Highlands being read, And a petitione for the Earle of Arguyll representing that no Comission can be granted within the bounds of his heretable Justiciarie being also read The Councill recomends to the Lord Viscount Tarbatt To make search what hes been the tenor of Commissiones for the Highlands in former tymes And if there be any reservationes therein anent the Earle of Arguylles right of Justiciarie and what these are And to report to the Councill

Concerning a commission for the Highlands

A commission to be passed under the great seal for securing the peace of the Highlands being read, and a petition for [Archibald Campbell] the earl of Argyll representing that no commission can be granted within the bounds of his heritable justiciary being also read, the council recommends to [George Mackenzie] the lord Viscount Tarbat to make search what has been the tenor of commissions for the Highlands in former times, and if there be any reservations therein concerning the earl of Argyll’s right of justiciary, and what these are. And to report to the Council.
