Comittee for Letters from shyres anent Heretors and fencible men

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill Doe hereby recomend to the Earles of Linlithgow and Lothian, Lord Viscount Stair the Lords Cardross and Carmichaell Sir John Maxwell of Pollock and Sir Thomas Livingstoun Comander in cheiff of there Majestyes forces within this Kingdome to Consider the Letters sent to the Lord High Chancellour and given in be his Lordship to the Clerks from severall shyres whereof the Fencible men and heretors are appointed to be randezvouzed anent the officers of these shyres And to make ansuers thereto or prepare ansuers for the same and present them to the Councill and also to Consider what officers doe offer themselves gratis in the present service upon payment of such pairt of there arrears resting as will equipp them for the service And to report to the Councill.

The lords of their majesties’ privy council hereby recommend to the earls of Linlithgow and Lothian, Viscount Stair, the Lords Cardross and Carmichael, Sir John Maxwell of Pollock and Sir Thomas Livingston, commander in chief of their majesties’ forces within this kingdom to consider the letters sent to the lord high chancellor and given in by his lordship to the clerks from several shires whereof the fencible men and heritors are appointed to be rendezvoused regarding the officers of these shires and to make answers thereto or prepare answers for the same and present them to the council, and also to consider what officers offer themselves gratis in the present service upon payment of so much of their arrears outstanding as will equip them for the service, and to report to the council.
