Comittee for secureing againest the Bass2

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill doe hereby Recomend to the Earle of Louthian the Lord Polwart and Sir John Lauder of Fountainhall one of the senators of the Colledge of Justice or any tuo of them To meet with Sir James Lesly Comander in cheiff of there Majestyes forces within this Kingdome for the tyme And to Consider what course is to be taken for secureing the vessells passing up or doun the Firth Againest the Injuryes which they may sustain from the Rebells in the Bass And Lykewayes what measures are to be followed for stopteing any provisiones that may be Carryed in to the Bass for the future And to report to the Councill at there meeting the morrow in the forenoon And the Lord Chancellour declares He will be present with the said Comittee when they shall meet

The lords of their majesties’ privy council hereby recommend to [Robert Kerr] earl of Lothian, [Patrick Hume] Lord Polwarth and Sir John Lauder of Fountainhall, one of the senators of the college of justice, or any two of them to meet with Sir James Leslie commander in chief of their majesties’ forces within this kingdom for the time and to consider what course is to be taken for securing the vessels passing up or down the Firth against the injuries which they may sustain from the rebels in the Bass, and likewise what measures are to be followed for stopping any provisions that may be carried in to the Bass for the future, and to report to the council at their meeting tomorrow in the forenoon, and the lord chancellor declares he will be present with the said committee when they shall meet.
