Comittee anent seized horses

The Lord Chancellour Haveing Acquanted the Councill that by warrand from a Comittee of Councill to Sir Thomas Livingstoun Comander in cheif of there majestyes forces within this Kingdome for seizeing the horses of papists or persones under baill severall horses are seazed and putt into stables within Edinburgh Canongate or other Suburbs of the said toun And the Councill Nominates and appoints the Lords Cardross and Beilhaven and the Lord Hattoun or any tuo of them to take Inspectione of the saids horses If they above the pryce of Ane Hundreth Merks per piece And to Consider to whom they doe belong With power to them or there said quorum aither to cause detain or restore these horses in the termes of the proclamatione of Councill for Calling out heretors and fenciblemen, And that pairt thereof anent the seizeing of horses And in case of difficulty anent the saids horses that they report to the Councill to the end they may give there determinatione anent the same and Recomends to the said Sir Thomas Livingstoun to give orders to any tuo or more of the officers of the pairties who seized the saids horses to attend upon the said Comittee this day at four acloack in the afternoon And Recomends to the said Comittee to report to the Councill the morrow at there meeting in the forenoon.

Committee for seized horses

The lord chancellor having informed the council that, by a warrant from a committee of council to Sir Thomas Livingston, commander in chief of their majesties’ forces within this kingdom for seizing the horses of Catholics or persons under bail, several horses were seized and put into stables in Edinburgh, Canongate or other suburbs of the said town, and the council nominates and appoints Lords Cardross and Belhaven and Lord Hatton or any two of them to determine if the said horses are above the price of 100 merks each and to consider to whom they belong, with power to them or their said quorum either to detain or restore those horses in the terms of the proclamation of council for calling out heritors and fencible men, and that part thereof concerning the seizing of horses, and in case of difficulty regarding the said horses, that they report to the council so that they may give their determination concerning the same, and they recommend to the said Sir Thomas Livingston to give orders to any two or more of the officers of the parties who seized the said horses to attend upon the said committee this day at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, and they recommend to the said committee to report to the council tomorrow at their meeting in the forenoon.
