The Lords of his majesties privy Councill having by their act of the first of December Jaj vic Nyntie Eight granted to Mr George Brown minister and his heirs and assigneys the sole priviledge of frameing makeing and selling his instrument called Rotula Arthmetica for the sapce of fourtein years from the day and date of the said act And Discharged any other persones to make or sell the said instrument dureing the space forsaid without express Libertie and Licence from the said Mr George and his forsaids under the paine of Fyve hundred merks besides the Confiscatione of the Rotula’s made or sold The saids Lords doe hereby Discharge the Importing of the saids instrument or Rotula dureing the space forsaid as weell as the makeing or selling therof under the said paine of fyve hundred merks besides the Confiscation of the instruments of Rotula’s Imported as weell as these made or sold And And2 Declares this present act to Commence from the date of the former act which is the first of december Jaj vic nyntie Eight years.

A Letter from a Justiciary court at Forres dated the Sixteenth of November Jaj vic nynty nyne years, Direct to the Lord High Chancellor, giving account how they are Spulzied with Sorners and Robbers being Read, The Councill Nominates and appointes The Committee appointed anent the Garrisones who are also on the Committee The nynth day of this moneth upon the Bill given in by Livetennent Coll: Dalziell, in Coll: Rows Regiment viz The Earles of Argyle, Mar, Buchan, Lauderdale and Leven Lord Strathnaver, Lord Ruthven, Lords Advocate, Thesaurer Deput, Aberuchill and Phesdo and Laird of Grant, To be a Committee For Considering of the Said Letter, And declares any Three of them to be a Sufficient quorum, And Recomends to them to meet to morrow at Three in the afternoon, And to make their Report to the Councill with their conveniency. – Taken off the minuts because the printed Letter and Committee is wanting.

Act Relaxing from the Horn Donald Camron alias McCoil Roy, and others, and Indemnifying them

Anent the petition given in To the Lords of his majesties privy Councill By Alexander Strachan of Glenkindle Shewing That where their Lordships have heard of the attrocious hamsucken Robbery and Theft committed against him by John McGillendeis and John and Grigor Mcphersones in Keppoch and severalls others2 For which he also obtained a Decreet against the Tutor of Weems and certain other accessories which they offered to Suspend before their Lordships The discussing of which Suspension was delayed untill that he should prosecute the forsaids persones and others which in the court formerly held against them were not decerned, And Seing that he is now Insisting against the Saids other persones who were the principall offenders and that necessary it is for him to adduce certan witnesses viz Donald Camron alias McCoil Roy, Euan Camron alias McCoil Roy, Alexr Meinzes late Grigor McGrigor, Rory Kennedy, John Mc Cartor John Roy McCoill vic Eandny, Angus McEan vic Coill vic Landny who are under fugitationes and are not therfra relaxed, as likewise That Some of them being accessories must also be Indemnified to qualifie them For witnessing in the said matter as their Lordships use is in the like caices. Anent The Petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill By John McTavish of Migavy and Hugh Fraser prisoners in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh Shewing That whereas their petitioners having hade the misfortune throw Ignorance and Impudence, to be concerned with some others of their Freinds in meetings and Gatherings, That were Found to Fall under the Compass of the Laws and Statutes dischargeing Gatherings and Convocations, of the Leidges under the pain of Treason, whilest in the mean tyme, They never in the least harboured any thoughts of opposing his majesties authority wherupon having been pursued before the Lords of Justiciary The Sentence of death was pronunced against them some tyme agoe To the Executeing therof Their Lordships in compassion of their petitioners Circumstances were pleased to put a Stop by granting them a Reprive till the First of December next which is now near Expired; They have Therfore Recourse once more to their Lordships Goodness and Compassion For a Continuation of the said Reprive For such a competent tyme as their Lordships Shall think Fitt. That they2 may have opportunity to Implore his majesties gracious pardon, whose clemency was never wanting to any that became obnoxious To punishment Through Rashness and Simplicity without any design against his authority and Government. And Therfore Humbly craving their Lordships In commiserating of their Petitioners Circumstances To prorogate the said Reprive For a competent tyme, or Change the said Capitall punishment to Banishment or what Else their Lordships shall determine, as the said petition bears.
