Warrand for reduceing the tolbooth of the Canongate

The Councill being Informed that the prisoners in the Canongate tolbooth have forced the key from the Jaylor And possessed themselves of the said prisone and doe keep out the same They hereby give warrand to the magistrats of Edinburgh to use all acts of violence and hostility within there power for reduceing the said prisone And to call for assistance from Sir Thomas Livingstoun Comander in cheiff and To whom the saids Lords recomend that he assist the magistrats with sufficient force to the end forsaid

Warrant for recovering the tolbooth of the Canongate

The council, being informed that the prisoners in the Canongate tolbooth have forced the key from the jailor and possessed themselves of the said prison and keep out the same, they hereby give warrant to the magistrates of Edinburgh to use all acts of violence and hostility within their power for recovering the said prison and to call for assistance from Sir Thomas Livingston, commander in chief, and to whom the said lords recommend that he assist the magistrates with sufficient force to the end foresaid.
