Warrand Countess of Dalhousie to be Closs prisoner with the Lord Bellinden her husband

Anent the petitione Given in to the Lords of there Majesties privie Councill be Mary Countess of Dalhoussie Shewing That whereas the Lord Bellinden the petitioners husband haveing been exceedingly Indisposed for some Considerable tyme bygone And now being made Closs prisoner in the Castle of Edinburgh whereby he is depryved of all the divertisements to which he wes formerly used to the further Endangering of his health And therefore Humbly Craveing that there Lordships would be pleased to allow the petitioner aither to allow the petitioner to stay Constantly with her said husband, or such access to the Castle as she may provyde a dyett fitt for him and such other things as may be necessarie As the said petitione bears The saids Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill haveing considered this petitione given in to them be the above Mary Countess of Dalhoussie They hereby Give order and warrand to the Earle of Leven Governour of the Castle of Edinburgh And in his absence to the next Commanding officer there to suffer to have access to the Lord Bellinden her husband and Margaret Crawfurd her servant with her in the chamber where the said Lord Bellindean is prisoner The said petitioner and her servant alwayes remaining Closs prisoners with the said Lord untill he procure the Liberty of open prisone.

Warrant

Warrant for the countess of Dalhousie to be a close prisoner with Lord Bellenden her husband

Regarding the petition given in to the lords of their majesties’ privy council by Mary [Ramsay], countess of Dalhousie, showing that whereas [John], Lord Bellenden, the petitioner’s husband, having been exceedingly indisposed for some considerable time bygone and now being made a close prisoner in the Castle of Edinburgh whereby he is deprived of all the diversions to which he was formerly used to the further endangering of his health, and therefore humbly craving that their lordships would be pleased to allow the petitioner either to allow the petitioner to stay constantly with her said husband, or such access to the castle as she may provide a diet fit for him and such other things as may be necessary as the said petition bears. The said lords of their majesties’ privy council having considered this petition given in to them by the above Mary, countess of Dalhousie, they hereby give order and warrant to the earl of Leven, governor of the Castle of Edinburgh, and in his absence to the next commanding officer there to suffer to have access to the Lord Bellenden her husband and Margaret Crawford her servant with her in the chamber where the said Lord Bellenden is prisoner, the said petitioner and her servant always remaining close prisoners with the said lord until he procures the liberty of open prison.
