Warrand for transporting Bell and Hallwells from Edinburgh to Canongate prisone

The Lords of there Majesties privie Councill doe hereby give order and warrand to the magistrats of Edinburgh and Keeper of there tolbooth to Cause transport the persones of John Bell and Halbert Wells in Tinwell paroch in Nithsdaill shyre presently prisoners in the said tolbooth for alleadged being present at the publishing of a disloyall paper or declaratione Lately published at the mercat croce of Sanquhar under a sufficient guaird to the tolbooth of the Canongate And appoints the saids magistrats of Edinburgh Bailzies of the Canongate and Keeper of there tolbooth To receave the saids persones prisoners and keep and detaine them therein into tuo severall roumes And not to allow the one to Speak or Converse with the other untill further order.

The lords of their majesties’ privy council hereby give order and warrant to the magistrates of Edinburgh and keeper of their tolbooth to cause transport the persons of John Bell and Halbert Wells in Tinwald parish in Nithsdale shire, presently prisoners in the said tolbooth for allegedly being present at the publishing of a disloyal paper or declaration lately published at the mercat cross of Sanquhar under a sufficient guard to the tolbooth of the Canongate, and they appoint the said magistrates of Edinburgh, bailies of the Canongate and keeper of their tolbooth to receive the said persons as prisoners and keep and detain them therein in two separate rooms and not to allow the one to speak or converse with the other until further order.
