Warrand to transport Jean Ure and Katherin Comrie

Anent the representation given in to the Lords of there majesties privie Councill Shewing That Jean Ure and Katherine Comrie are Comitted to the tolbooth of Stirling for unaturally murdering of there oune children And these crymes consisting of a great many Circumstances which will not only requyre the transporting of the pairtyes here to the tolbooth of Edinburgh Bot Lykewayes a great many of poor witnesses and sieing the Lords of Councill in the Lyke cases usually Comissionatts the shirreff of the shyre or his deputs where the act is comitted with some other persones to Judge the saids crymes And the saids crymes being comitted within the shirreffdome of Stirling Therefore Humbly craveing that the saids Lords would be pleased to grant Commissione to the shirreff deput of Stirling John Dick proveist of Stirling Mr Thomas Napier of Ballachairne John Callender of Craigforth Mr Charles Bennet of Easter Livielands, Mr Robert Murray of Livielands William Livingstoun of Greenyairds or any tuo of them or any others they think fitt for tryeing and Judgeing the saids persones according to Law. As the said representation bears The Saids Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill Haveing considered this representatione They refuse to grant Comission for tryeing the above Jean Ure and Katherine Comrie before particular persones in the countrey Bot they hereby Give order and warrand to the magistrats of Stirling to delyver the saids tuo women to the shirreff of Stirling or his deputts And appoints the said shirreff and his deput to cause2 transport them under a sufficient guaird and delyver them to the shirreff of the next shyre And so from shirreff to sherreff untill they be brought to the tolbooth of Edinburgh and appoints the Magistrats of Edinburgh and keeper of there tolbooth to receave and detain the saids Jean Ure and Katherine Comrie prisoners therein In order to there tryall befor the Lords Comissioners of Justiciary

Concerning the representation given in to the lords of their majesties’ privy council shewing that Jean Ure and Katherine Comrie are committed to the tolbooth of Stirling for unnaturally murdering of their own children and these crimes consisting of a great many circumstances which will not only require the transporting of the parties here to the tolbooth of Edinburgh but also a great many poor witnesses, and seeing the lords of council in similar cases usually commissions the sheriff of the shire or his deputes where the act was committed, with some other persons to judge the said crimes, and the said crimes being committed within the sheriffdom of Stirling, therefore humbly craving that the said lords would be pleased to grant commission to the sheriff depute of Stirling, John Dick provost of Stirling, Mr Thomas Napier of Ballachairn, John Callender of Craigforth, Mr Charles Bennet of Easter Livilands, Mr Robert Murray of Livilands William Livingstoun of Greenyards or any two of them or any others they think fit for trying and judging the said persons according to law, as the said representation bears. The said lords of their majesties’ privy council, having considered this representation, they refuse to grant commission for trying the above Jean Ure and Katherine Comrie before particular persons in the country but they hereby give order and warrant to the magistrates of Stirling to deliver the said two women to the sheriff of Stirling or his deputes, and they appoint the said sheriff and his depute to cause transport them under a sufficient guard and deliver them to the sheriff of the next shire and so from sheriff to sheriff until they be brought to the tolbooth of Edinburgh, and they appoint the magistrates of Edinburgh and keeper of their tolbooth to receive and detain the said Jean Ure and Katherine Comrie as prisoners therein for their trial before the lords commissioners of justiciary.
