Warrant

Warrant to give up Glenbuchat’s bond

Concerning the petition given in to the lords of their majesties’ privy council by Adam Gordon of Glenbuchat showing that where the petitioner did voluntarily surrender himself prisoner to Colonel Buchan at Aberdeen in November 1690 where he continued for the space of four months or thereby, after which time the said lords were pleased to give orders to the said Colonel Buchan to set the petitioner at liberty upon his finding caution to live peaceably under their majesties’ government; and accordingly the petitioner did find caution and afterwards took the benefit of their majesties’ gracious act of indemnity before the sheriff of Aberdeen in December last as an extract of an act thereupon under the sheriff clerk’s hand produced with the said petition has testified, and the principal act is lying in the clerks of the council’s hands, and it being customary for their lordships to grant warrant to deliver up to all parties the bonds granted by them for their peaceable behaviour after they had taken the benefit of the said indemnity; and therefore humbly desyring that the said lords would grant warrant to their clerks of privy council in whose hands the petitioner’s bond is to deliver up the same to him according to their practice in the like cases, as the said petition bears. The said lords of their majesties’ privy council, having considered this petition given in to them by the above Adam Gordon of Glenbuchat, they hereby give order and warrant to the clerks of council to deliver up to the petitioner the above granted by him and his cautioner dated the […] day of […], in respect the petitioner has taken the benefit of their majesties’ act of indemnity and that the oath of allegiance signed by him, his original subscription thereto, is transmitted to the said clerks of privy council.
