Committie anent proclamation of parliament, and secureing the peace of the Kingdom

Her Majesties high Commissioner and Lords of Privie Councell Doe heirby Nominat and Appoynt the Marques of Montrose, Lord President of Privie Councell, The Duke of Argyle, The Earles of Marr and Loudoun, Marchmount, Stair, Glasgow and Isla, The Lords President of Session, The Register and Justice Clerk, To be a Committie for receiving Information from the Magistrats of Edinburgh, Stirling, Queensferrie and Leith anent what persons comes to Edinburgh, and pases Stirling bridge Queensferrie and the passage att Leith from tyme to tyme, And for considering upon the most proper methods for executeing the proclamation of parliament, And to prepare overtures for preventing tumultuary ryseings, And preserveing the peace of the Kingdome, and declairs any Four a Quorum, And recommends to the said Committie to meet als oft as they Shall find necessar, And to report with ther first conveniencie.

[James Douglas, duke of Queensberry] her majesty’s high commissioner and lords of privy council do hereby nominate and appoint [James Graham] the marquis of Montrose president of council, [John Campbell] the duke of Argyll, [John Erskine] the earl of Mar, [Hugh Campbell] the earl of Loudoun, [Patrick Hume] the earl of Marchmont, [John Dalrymple] the earl Stair, [David Boyle] the earl of Glasgow, [Archibald Campbell] the earl of Ilay, [Hew Dalrymple] the lord president of session, [Sir James Murray of Philiphaugh] the lord register, and [Adam Cockburn] the lord justice clerk to be a committee for receiving information from the magistrates of Edinburgh, Stirling, Queensferry, and Leith concerning what persons come to Edinburgh, and passes Stirling Bridge, Queensferry, and the passage at Leith from time to time, and for considering upon the most proper methods for executing the proclamation of parliament, and to prepare overtures for preventing tumultuary risings, and preserving the peace of the kingdom. And declare any four a quorum. And recommend to the said committee to meet as often as they shall find necessary, and to report with their first conveniency.
