Warrant

Warrant to the Magistrats of Glasgow to liberat the Captain of a French privateer from prison

His Grace her Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of her Majesties privie Councell doe heirby give order and Warrand to the Magistrats of Glasgow to sett the Captain of the French privateer lately taken by Captain Matthew Campbell at liberty furth of their Tollbooth, with Liberty to him to goe up and down the said Town of Glasgow, and two mylls round the Samen upon his giveing his paroll of honour that he shall keep and not exceed the bounds of his said confynement, till further orders of Councell thereanent.

His grace [John Campbell, duke of Argyll] her majesty’s high commissioner and the lords of her majesty’s privy council do hereby give order and warrant to the magistrates of Glasgow to set the captain of the French privateer lately taken by Captain Matthew Campbell at liberty forth of their tolbooth, with liberty to him to go up and down the said town of Glasgow, and two miles round the same upon his giving his parole of honour that he shall keep and not exceed the bounds of his said confinement, till further orders of council therein.
