Att Edinburgh the Threttie one day of March Jaj viic and thrie years

Act

Act In favours of Lawrance Crawfoord of Jordanhill for stoping the Importatione of Irish Horses and Catle and seiseing them when Imported

Anent the Memorandum given in to the Lords of her Majesties privy Councill be Lawrance Crafurd of Jordanhill Representing that the Lords of her Majesties privy Councill Haveing by their act and Commission Impowered the said Jordanhill to seize all Irish victuall that should be Imported upon the western Coasts and to punish the Importers Conforme to the rules therby appointed; The saids Lords did designe to extend their said Commission to him as to Irish horses and Catle also; But the Councill did adjourne that day without haveing the whole matter in their vein; And Seeing it will be much easier for the publict expence to have the whole power Lodged in the person of one man the same waiters and servants being able at the same time and place to prevent the Importation of both And Therfore Humbly Craveing that the saids Lords would add the power of Seizeing the saids horses and Catle to their former act and Commission In favors of the said Jordanhill to the effect he might not only Seize any such that shall hereafter be Imported and Otherwayes punish the Importers Conforme to the rules prescribed But also might take tryall why So many have been of Late Imported and by whom and whose Connivance and make report therof to the saids Lords of Councill in due time As the Memorandum bears The Lords of her Majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered the above Memorandum by way of petition given in to them by Lawrance Crafurd of Jordonhill; And the Samen being read in their presence The saids Lords doe hereby Grant instruction and give power and warrand to the said Lawrance Crafurd of Jordanhill for puting the Law’s and acts of parliament made against the Importing of Irish horsses and Catle from Ireland to due and Lawfull execution; And the saids Lords doe hereby appoint the Clerks of Councill to wryt to him for that effect And Recommends to the Lords of the Thesaury That they give instructiones to the Collectors and waiters at the severall Seaports for that same end.
