Procedure

The Earl of Tillibardin added to the privy Councill

Letter from the Queen to the Councill for receiveing and adding of John Earle of Tullibardine in to the privy Councill Being read was ordered to be recorded And the said John Earle of Tillibardine being present Did qualifie himself to her Majestie by Swearing the oath of alledgance and Subscrybing the Same with the assurance; And the Earle of Finlator preses for the time did tender the Oath de fideli to his Lordship who took his place at the board accordingly.
Followes the forsaid Letter.

Right Trustie and right well beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trustie and intirely beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trustie and well beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trustie and well beloved Councillors and trustie and well beloved Councillors; Wee greet yow well; Wheras in Consideration of the Loyaltie and Singular abilities of our right trustie and well beloved Cousine John Earle of Tillibardine Wee have thought fitt to add him to the privy Councill fo that our kingdome It is Therfore our will and pleasure And wee doe hereby Authorize and requyre yow to admitt and receive him into that our privy Councill in the ordinary form and method in the Like Occasiones Accustomed For doeing wherof This Shall be your Warrant, And So wee bid yow heartily farewell; Given at our Court at St James’s the 17th day of December 1702; And of our reigne the first year. By her Majesties Command Sic Subscribitur Tarbat.
