Att Edinburgh The Eight day of March Jaj viic and thrie years, Called Extraordinar

Procedure

Representation anent the Rable at Glasgow

The Councill haveing heard a Representation made to them by the Lord Chancelor about a rable at Glasgow and the insolences and abuses done by them their and particularly upon the house of John Bell And haveing heard ane account therof from the Magistrats by a Letter under their hand and a letter from the Lord Kilmair’s Commandant of the forces Lying their Concerning the Same with a former Letter from the provest to the Chancelor anent a rable which hade been their on the 30 Jannuary Last with a Copie of the Lord high Chancelors Letter In answer therunto, And Likewayes Letting the provest know his duty as to any other rables That might happen all read in their presence The saids Lords appointed the Lords Register and Advocat and Justice Clerk to be a Committee for presently prepairing a letter for giveing a full account of this matter to his Grace the Duke of Queensberry Secretary in waiting to be Laid before her Majestie with the Copies of the Letters abovementioned As also to prepair a draught of a letter to be sent by the Lord high Chancelor to the Magistrates of Glasgow anent the forsaid rable and Tumult; And the two Letters being accordingly prepared and brought in were read in presence of the Councill; They approved of the Samen And the Lord high Chancelor haveing Subscrybed that directed to his Grace the Duke of Queensberry By warrand and in presence of the Councill the Samen was appointed to be transmitted by a flying packet this night with Copies of the other Letters and informationes abovementioned to his Grace for that effect And Lykewayes Copies of the Said Letter and other papers to be sent to the Viscount of Tarbat the other Secretary; And Recommends to the Lord Chancelor to signe and send forward in their name and by their warrand the other Letter direct to the Magistrates of Glasgow.
