Letter from the Queen To The Councill anent ane adress made by the heritors and Inhabitants of the paroch of Hadingtoun

Letter from the Queen to the Councill anent ane Adress made to her Majestie by a great number of the heritors and inhabitants within the parish of Haddingtoune in Lothian Read and Ordered to be recorded, wherof the tenor followes.
Sic Supra Scribitur Anne Regina
Right trustie and Right well beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trustie and intirely beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trustie and right well beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trustie and well beloved Councillors and trustie and well beloved Councillors; Wee greet yow well; Wheras ther hath been ane humble adress made to us by a great number of heritors and inhabitants within the parochin of Haddingtoune in Lothian Which also Containes a Complaint of injuries and incroachments made upon them; These Consisting in matters of fact; and wherin others out Subjects Complained of are concerned In which wee can give no Judgment without legall tryall and examinatione Therfore Wee have ordered our Secretary to send yow a double of the said Adress and Complaint And wee Requyre yow to examine the matter of fact in Such methods as yow Judge fittest; And to report the Same to us; with your oppinion therof; That wee may therafter Signifie Our furder pleasure to yow in that matter And mean while Wee Recommend to yow to take expedient Courses for preventing of disturbance within that paroch untill wee returne our pleasure after your report to be made to Us; So wee bid yow heartily farewell; Given at our Court at St James’s the Twenty fourth day of February 1702/3 and of our Reigne the first year By her Majesties Command Sic Subscribitur Tarbat
