Procedure

Earl of March aded to the privy Councill

Letter from the Queens Majestie to the Councill for admitting and receiveing William Earle of March to be a privy Councillor; Being Read was ordered to be recorded And the said William Earle of March being present did swear the oath of alledgance and Subscrybe the Same with the assurance to her Majestie as a privy Councillor and Governour and Constable of the Castle of Edinburgh And the Earle of Eglingtoune preises for the time did tender the Oath de fideli to his Lordship and therafter his Lordship did take his place at the board accordingly. Off the which letter the tenor followes
Sic Supra Scribitur Anne Regina
Right trusty and right well beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trustie and intirely beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trustie and right well beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trustie and well beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trustie and well beloved Councillors; and trustie and well beloved Councillors Wee Greet yow weell Wheras in Consideration of the Loyaltie and Singular abilities of our right trusty and well beloved Cousin William Earle of March Wee have thought fit to add him to the privy Councill of that our Kingdome; These are Therfore to authorize and requyre yow to admitt and receive him into that our privy Councill in the ordinary forme and Method in the Like caices accustumed; For doeing wherof this shall be your warrant So wee bid yow heartily farewell; Given at our Court at St James’s the 3ist day of December 1702 and of our reigne the first year. By her Majesties Command Sic Subscribitur Tarbat
