Act Mcdowgall yownger of Logan and others
Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of his majesties privy Counsell be Robert Mcdowgall yownger of Logan for himself and the rest of the heretors and inhabitants of the parochin of Kirkmaiden Shewing That the presbetrie of Stranrawer by ther act of the Seventyne of Jwne Last haveing fownd it necessarie for the conveniencie of a great pairt of the paroch of Kirkmaiden upon perambulatione of the paroch that ane other church should be bwilded ther at Portmissock to be Supplyed by the same minister who preached at Kirkmaiden ilk other Saboth untill the Samen be better provyded And haveing sereousely recommended to the heretors of the paroch as a work of piety tending much to the edificatione of the people And to the advancement of the work of Godlienes among them that the said church should be Speediely bwilt and putt in a conditione to accomodat the congregatione And the heretors being most forward to comply with the presbetries inclinationes in soe good a work are resolved to contribute all they can for bwilding the said church And they finding that the most readie and expedient mean to accomplish this work of piety will be to apply the vaccand stipend resting by the severall heretors of the said paroch for carieing on that work which by severall Lawes and acts of parliament appointing vaccand Stipends to be imployed upon piows wses within the paroch did incourage them to apply to ther Lordships for interposeing ther awthoritie for imploying the bygone vaccand Stipends for the yeirs Jaj vic nyntie thrie Jaj vic nyntie five and Jaj vic and nyntie Six yet wndisposed of for the bwilding of the said church as a work soe much tending to the advancement of piety And to which the heretors doe wnanimouslie accord owt of complyance with the presbetries inclinatione And from the Sense they have of ther sincere and good intentiones in the thing And therfore humbly craveing to the effect eftermentioned As the said petitione bears The saids Lords of his majesties privy Cownsell haveing considered the above petitione with the act of presbetrie mentioned therin and prodwced therwith They doe heirby Allow the vaccand Stipends of the above kirk of Kirkmaiden for the haill yeirs Jaj vic nyntie thrie Jaj vic nyntie five and Jaj vic nyntie Six yeirs to be imployed for bwilding the above new church of Portmissock And nominats and appoints William Mcdowgall of Garthland rwleing elder of the presbetrie of Stranrawer and who at desyre of the heretors did perambulat the said paroch and Mr Alexander Adair patrone of the said paroch of Kirkmaiden to be factors for uplifting of the saids vaccand Stipends And decernes and ordaines the saids factors to be readiely ansuered obeyed and payed of the saids vaccand Stipend of the said kirk of Kirkmaiden by the heretors fewars wodsetters liferenters titullars tacksemen of teinds tennents possessors and others lyable in payment of the saids Stipends And ordaines Letters of horneing wnder the Signet of Cownsell to be direct heiron at the saids factors instance against the heretors and others foirsaids lyable in payment of the saids vaccand Stipends upon productione of a decreit of Localitie And in caise ther be non ordaines the heretors and others foirsaids to make payment of ther respective proportiones of the Same according as they shall be decerned by the Judge ordinarie The saids factors first giveing bond and finding Sufficient Cawtione acted in the books of privie Counsell that the said vaccand Stipend Shall be imployed for bwilding of the said new kirk at Portmissock
