Letter for Adjurning the parliament
The Letter underwryten from his Majestie to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Being read was ordered to be recorded wherof the tenor folloues
Sic suprascribitur William Rex:
Right trustie and right uell Beloved Councelor Right trustie and entirely Beloved Cousin and Councelor Right trustie and entirely uell Beloved Cousins and Councelars Right trustie and uell beloved Councelors And trustie and uell Beloved Councelars We Greet yow well Wheras the present state of our affairs does not require the meeting of our parliament on the Eighteenth day of March instant to which it is adjurned and we being desyrous to prevent the unnecessary attendance of the Members therof on the said Eighteenth day of March Doe therfore authorize and require yow to Issue furth a proclamation in our name ordering the Continuance of the forsaid adjurnment of our parliament to the Eighteenth day of Agust next ensuing the date of these presents And Requiring all the Members therof to attend that day att Edinburgh in the usuall way And upon the accustomed Certifications For doing wherof this shall be your warrand And so we bid yow heartily farewell Given att our Court at Kensingtoune the 9th day of March 1696/7 and of our reigne the eight year By his Majesties Command sic subscribitur James Ogilvie.
