Warrand to the Lord Advocat to raise a process Against Baillie Brand

The Lord Raith Lord Thesaurer deput Having Informed the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill that Baillie Alexander Brand has reproached the Duke of Queensberry and his Lordship and other officers of state as guiltie of taking of brybes The saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Doe heirby Recommend to Sir James Steuart his Majesties Advocat And appointes Sir Patrick Home his Majesties Sollicitor to raise a Lybell against the said Baillie Brand before the saids Lords For reproaching the saids officers of state And in the Mean tyme ordaines the Macers of Councill to seize the said Alexander Brand and Incercerat his persone in the tolbooth of Edinburgh untill he Give bond and find sufficient Cautione acted in the books of privie Councill That he shall appear and attend all the dyetts in the proces to be raised before the Councill against him for reproaching the officers of state And that before the Councill and the Committies to be appointed in the said proces under the penaltie of ane Hundreth pounds sterling.
