Att Edinburgh the third day of Agust Jaj vic nyntie seven years post meridiem

Anent the petition given into the Lords of his Majesties privie Councill By James Adamson presently prisoner in the tolbooth of Edinburgh Sheuing that the petitioner is by the Lord Chancelors order Committed prisoner to the tolbooth of Edinburgh upon suspicion of being present at a place called stay the voyage neer to the toune of Drumfreis wher the Lait King James his health and his present majesties Confusion are said to have been drunk And albeit the petitioner does abhorr the drinking of any mans Confusion And hes Ground to Conclude from the Information of the Gentlemen present in the forsaid Company that no such healths uere Drunk at that meeting yet for his oune exoneration Humblie represents to their Lordships that he uas not present at the said meeting nor in the said Company albeit he dyned uith Gairnsalloch but neither sau Garnsalloch nor any other of the said Company untill they uere apprehended upon the forsaid Accompt or since he Came to prisone so that the petitioners Imprisonment was upon misinformation which he doubts not their Lordships are Convinced of And which some of the Gentlemen att the forsaid meeting have declared to some of their Lordships Number And therfore Humblie Craving to the effect underwryten as the said petition Bears The saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Having Considered this petitione Given in to them by the said James Adamson They heirby Give order and warrand to the Magistrats of Edinburgh and Keeper of their tolbooth to sett the petitioner at Libertie furth therof In respect he hath given bond and found sufficient Caution acted in the Books of privie Councill That he shall Live peacably under and uith all submission to the present Government of his Majestie King William And that he shall not Act Consult nor Contryve any thing in prejudice therof nor shall not Converss or Correspond uith any rebells And that he shall appear before the saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councill whensoever he shall be Called for or required to that effect under the penaltie of one Thousand pounds Scotts In case he shall transgress in any pairt of the premisses.
