Act Confyning The Late Archbishop of Glasgow to Coupar of Fife

The Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Having Considered his Majesties Letter direct to them of the date the thretty day of Jannuary Jaj vic nyntie seven years authorizing and requiring them to Confyne John Late Archbishop of Glasgow (whom he has alloued to repair to Scotland for recovery of his health) to what Shire or toune they please And to take sufficient bale of him to keep his Confynment to Live peacably And appear when called for The saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Have Confyned and Heirby Confynes the said John Late Archbishop of Glasgow to the toune of Couper of Fife and four Mylles about the same And ordaines him before extracting heirof to Give bond and find sufficient Caution acted in the bookes of privy Councill That he shall Immediately repair to and Keep uithin the bounds of his said Confynment And shall not Goe uithout the same And that he shall Live peacably under and with all submission to the present Government of his Majestie King William And that he shall not Act Consult nor Contryve any thing in prejudice therof nor shall not Converse or Correspond with any rebells And that he shall appear before the saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councill whensoever he shall be Called for or required to that effect under the penalty of ane Thousand pounds Sterling In case he shall transgress in any part of the premisses.
