Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councill By Sir Godfrey McCulloch Sheuing That wher the petitioner is Condenmed to dye upon the fifth day of March Instant for accession to the Slaughter of the deceast William Gordon who deceased in the month of october Jaj vic nyntie The petitioner doeth Humblie Submitt to his sentence and will not offer to Justifie himself in the Least But he beggs Libertie to represent to their Lordships: That as the petitioner hath been amongst the most unhappie of mankynd in the whole Course of his Life so he hath been singularly Infortunant in what hath hapned him neer the period of it nobody had any design upon him after the course of so many years and he flattered himself with hopes of Life on many Considerationes and speciallie Beleeving that the only tuo proving witnesses would not have been admitted And being now found guiltie he is exceedingly surprized and unprepared to dye And therfore Humblie Craving to the effect underwryten as the said petitione Bears The saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Having Considered this petition given in to them by the said Sir Godfrey McCulloch They heirby Repryve the petitioner to the tuenty fifth day of March instant Inclusive And appointes the Magistrats of Edinburgh to see the Sentence of death pronunced by the Lords of his Majesties Justiciary upon the said petitioner putt to execution against him upon the tuenty sixth day of the said month but further delay or prorogation sic subscribitur Poluarth councelar Douglass Argyll Lauderdale Kinlore Teviott W Anstruther James Murray Archibald Murray.
