Commission The Shirreff of Invernes Anent Frazers

Commission to The Shirreff of Invernes and his deputs Against Thomas Frazer of Boufort and his sons and their accomplices read votted approven and signed wherof the tenor folloues
The Lords of his Majesties privie Councell Having been Certainly Informed That Thomas Frazer of Boufort and Captaine Simeon Frazer his son with their accomplices of their name and Clan and other Loose and Laules men Have Convocat and Conveened in armes to the Number of Four or Fyve Hundred uithin the Shire of Invernes In a most seditious and rebellious manner And ther have occupyed fortified and stuffed houses and Forts And Have also seased upon the persons of The Lady Douager of Lovitt The Lord Mungo Murray and the Lord Saltoune and others And made them their prisoners Keeping and detaining them in a most violent and barbarous manner untill they extored from them such bonds and Conditions as they thought fitt to require Lykeas they still detaine the persone of The Said Lady Douager of Lovitt In most wicked and Greivous bondage For Which Causes The Saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councell Have ordained Letters to be direct In his Majesties name and authority Charging the forsaid Thomas and Simeon Frazers with their Complices therinnamed and all others their adherents To Lay doun their armes submitt themselves to Lau and Enter their persons in prisone to abyde and underly the same uithin the Space of Fourtie Eight hours after they be therto charged And in case they failzie to obey and doe the same To denunce them rebells and traitors Heirfore The saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councell Have thought fitt And doe heirby Give full pouer warrand and Commission to And Require and Command Ludovick Grant of that ilk shireff principall of the Shirefdome of Invernes and one of his Majesties most honourable privie Councell and Mr David Polson of Kinmylls his Deput To Convocat and raise in armes the whole heretors with their tennents and servants and other fencible men Living uithin the said Shire of Invernes And to putt them under such Leaders as they shall Judge most propper And to march with them armed and provyded of sufficient ammunition in feir of weir with all Dilligence Against the said Thomas and Simeon Frazers and […] Frazer of Foyer […] Frazer of Strowie […] Frazer of Erchet […] Frazer of Farralin […] Frazer of Erachie younger […] Frazer of Dalcraig […] Frazer of Culdeuchall younger […] Frazer of McGivie John Frazer brother to Culdeuchall in Borlam of Abertarff […] Frazer of Kinmonivie Hutchin Oig and Mr Robert Monro sometyme minister at Abertarff their accomplices And in case they and their saids accomplices shall not Give ready and punctuall obedience to the charge given to them by one of his Majesties Heraulds upon Letters direct at the Instance of his Majesties Advocat against them For rendering themselves prisoners uithin the tolbooth of Invernes to underly the Lau and to delyver the Lady Douager of Lovitt and all other persons detained prisoners by them Conform to the said Charge That then the said Ludovick Grant and his deputs Doe their outmost by force of Armes and all other acts of hostility to sease upon and bring in the forsaids persons dead or alyve And Call for and Charge Colonell Sir John Hill Commander of Fortwilliam with the officers and souldiers under his Command And Lykewayes to Call and require the Shirreff of the Shirefdom of perth and his deputs (who are authorized by Commission for that effect) with the heretors fencible men and ther tennents and servants in armes in feir of weir As also all other Magistrats officers and good subjects obleidged by Law to Concurr in armes In such cases To Joine assist and reinforce him Against the saids rebells and traitors for seasing dead or alyve Subdeuing and reducing them as said is in the full and punctuall executione of the premisses Declaring That whatever Slaughter Mutilatione Blood fire raising or other violence shall happen to be acted and Committed by all or any of the forsaids persons heirby authorized to march against the saids rebells or to Joyne and assist in seasing reducing and subdeuing them as said is The same shall be holden as Laufull Good and warrantable Service to his Majestie and his Government And the Actors and accessories therto shall be and are heirby fullie Indemnified and secured to all Intents and purposes sic subscribitur Annandale B Southerland Ruglen Tarbat Carmichaell Forbes James Steuart Adam Cockburn Archibald Mure Patrick Murray.
