Order Anent breaking weights for weighing meall in Glasgow

A Letter direct from The Magistrats of Glasgow to the provost therof now in Edinburgh (and given back to him again) Giving account of ane disorder Committed In Glasgow by the souldiers and some of the Inhabitatns In breaking the weights made use of for weighing of meall and destroying the Balks and other things made use of for the same And being read The Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Doe heirby Give full pouer warrand and Commission to the Magistrats of Glasgow to Call and Conveen before them the persons guilty of the said ryott Tumult or disorder (except Souldiers) And to take tryall by witnesses or otherwise for coming to the knouledge of the particular persones guilty of the same And to fyne or otherwise punish them according to their demerite except four or fyve of the ring Leaders and most guiltie of the saids persons whom The saids Lords ordaines the saids magistrats to send prisoners to Edinburgh togither with sufficient evidences and probation to be made use of against them And appointes the Magistrats of Edinburgh and Keeper of their tolbooth to receave and detaine the saids four or fyve persons till farder order And the saids Lords Recommends to the viscount of Teviott Comander in cheiff of his Majesties forces uithin this Kingdome to wryte to the Commanding officer of the Forces in Glasgow that he take tryall if any of his Souldiers be guilty of the said disorder or tumult And to see that they be Condignly punished.
