Letter from the Councell to the King Congratulating the peace

The follouing Letter being read was votted approven and signed and ordained to be transmitted by a flying pacquet:
May it please your Majestie After our thanks to Almightie God We doe with all Joy heartily Congratulat the most happie success of your armes in terminating so long and great a war by such ane honourable and advantagious peace which is amongst the greatest of earthly blessings And yet we have to Congratulat a farr greater to us and all your good subjects And that is your Majesties safe returne to Britaine To the universall satisfaction and rejoycing of all your Kingdoms which blessings as they are truely beyond our expression so shall they ever obleidge us to all that faithfulnes Love and Duety that can be expected from the most Loyall of subjects to the best of Kings And we doe heartily pray Almightie God that he who hath made your Majestie the Great restorer of our religions Laues and Libertie and the most Glorious establisher of the peace of Christendome may aluayes preserve your sacred persone from all decet and violence and make your Life and reigne as Long and prosperous as they are Indied most dear and desireable to us and all your Majesties good subjects We are May It please your Majestie your Majesties most faithfull most loyall and most obedient subjects and servants sic subscribitur Marchmont Cancelar Melvill P Tueeddale Southerland Morton Buchan Leven Annandale Tarbat Ross Carmichaell Ruthven James Steuart Adam Cockburne W Anstruther John Maxuell Archibald Murray Archibald Mure.
