Letter from the King anent the Archbishop of Glasgow

The Letter aftersent from his Majestie to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Being this day read was ordered to be recorded wherof the tenor folloues
Sic suprascribitur William Rex
Right trustie and right well Beloved Councelor Right trustie and Entirely Beloved Cousin and Councelor Right trustie and well beloved Cousins and Councelars Right trustie and well beloved Councelors And trustie and well Beloved Councelars We Greet yow well Wheras John Late Archbishop of Glasgow has made application to us for Libertie to Goe to Scotland for recovery of his health We have thought fitt to Grant the same upon his finding baill to Confine himself to what Shire or toune yow shall think fitt It is therfore our will and pelasure And ue heirby authorize and require yow to Confyne the said John Late Archbishop of Glasgow to what Shire or Toune of that our Kingdome yow shall Judge most propper And to accept of sufficient Baill and securitie from him to Keep uithin the bounds of his Confynment And to Live peacably under our Government And to Compear before yow when Called for For doing wherof this shall be your warrand And so we bid yow heartily farewell Given at our Court at Kensingtoun the 30th day of January 1696/7 And of our reign the 8th year By his Majesties Command sic subcribitur James Ogilvie.
