The Letter underwryten Direct from the Kings Majestie to the Lords of privie Councill Being read was ordered to be recorded wherof the tenor folloues

Right Trustie and Right well Beloved Councelor Right Trustie and Entirely Beloved Cousin and Councelor Right trustie and Right well Beloved Cousins and Councellors Right trustie and well Beloved Cousins and Councelors Right trustie and well Beloved Councelors And trustie and well Beloved Councelors We Greet yow well Wheras we are Informed that Kenneth Earle of Seaforth Did surrender himself prisoner to the Commander of our garrison at Invernes And hes throuen himself on our royall mercy It is our will and pleasure And we heirby authorize and require yow to Sett the said Earle of Seaforth at Libertie upon his finding sufficient Baill and Security to Live peacably under our Government And to Compear before yow when Called And that yow order our Advocat not to Insist on the proces of treasone raised against him untill our further pleasure be Knouen therin For doing wherof this hall be your warrand So we bid yow heartily Farewell Given att our Court at Kensingtoune the First day of March 1696/7 and of our reign the 8th year By his Majesties Command sic subscribitur Tullibardine.
