Letter from the King Anent the Militia

A Letter from the King to the Councill Recommending to them to give propper and necessary orders Anent the militia and see the samen punctually obeyed read and ordered to be recorded And superceeds the giving orders as is directed till teusday nixt to which the Councill as adjurned Folloues the Letter

Right trustie and right well Beloved Councelor Right trustie and Entirely Beloved Cousin and Councelor Right trustie and uell beloved Cousins and Councelors Right trustie and well beloved Councelors And trustie and uell Beloved Councelors We Greet yow well We formerly signified our pleasure to yow to putt the militia of that our Kingdome in order And we doe now think it a Convenitnet tyme to doe what is necessary for making it effectuall We doe therfore particularly Recommend to yow to Give what farder orders are necessary and propper in that matter And that yow see them punctuallie putt in executione For doing wherof this shall be your warrand so we bid yow heartily farewell Given att our Court att Kensingtoune the 23d day of Aprile 1697 and of our reigne the 9th year By his Majesties Command sic subscribitur Tullibardine.
