Procedure
Approbation of Letters of Marque in favours of Captain Pinkertoun and others
The Commissiones or Letters of Mart in favoures of the persons afernamed Viz one in favoures of Captaine Robert Pinkertoun Captain of the Good ship Called the Union a second in favoures of Captain James Gibsone master of the Good ship or frigott Called the rysing sun a third in favoures of Captain John Brown master of the Good ship or frygott Called the Instauration The Fourth in favours of Captain William Tennent master of the Good Ship or frygott Called the Calydonia Being this day read in presence of the Lords of his Majesties privie Councill They heirby approve of the saids Commissions And appointes the persones abovenamed masters or Captains or Captains of the ships respective forsaids each of them to suear and signe the oath of alleadgance to his Majestie King William and to signe the Assurance to his Majestie appointed by Act of parliament And that before they enter upon the exercising of the saids Commissions or ther offices therin as Masters or Captains of the forsaids shipps.
